5 Stellar Coffee Cocktails to Get Your Party Jumping

Coffee cocktails are having a moment — booming craft coffee and spirits industries have made mixing the two easier and tastier than ever.

We’ve rounded up our favorite coffee cocktail recipes that are both delicious and deceptively simple. Impress your guests at your next party by serving delicious mixed drinks made with Regular Coffee.

Easy White Russian

The White Russian is a classic coffee cocktail that’s tasty both hot and cold. You’ll commonly find these drinks made with a sweet coffee liqueur and vodka, but our version uses cold brew coffee instead for a simple, chilly version you can make in a big batch and serve at your spring celebration.

What You’ll Need

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1 oz heavy cream
  • 1 oz cold brew coffee
  • Ice

What to Do

Add the ice to an Old Fashioned glass, add vodka and coffee. Pour cream over top and stir gently.

Coffee Tonic

Ok, so this recipe isn’t alcoholic, but it is a tasty option for your teetotaler friends or for when you need a pick-me-up you can enjoy on the clock. For a spritzy herbal mixer that’s sure to refresh, tonic has your back. You might not think of coffee and quinine as an ideal pairing, but the herbality of the quinine and coffee’s floral, roasted notes are a match made in culinary Heaven. However, because your mixer is carbonated water, it’s important to use cold brew and not drip brewed coffee to avoid watering down your drink.

What You’ll Need

  • 6 oz of high-quality tonic water
  • 4 oz cold brew coffee
  • Ice
  • Rosemary garnish (optional)

What to Do

Add ice and tonic to a tall glass, add coffee slowly. This sequence is important; if you add coffee and then tonic, your drink will fizz up and overflow. The cold brew will float and then slowly mix into your drink. Garnish with fresh rosemary for extra herbal notes. If you want to spike your coffee tonic, add a splash of gin with the tonic water.

Pour Over Irish Coffee

A classic cocktail of coffee and Irish whiskey, our version uses pour over coffee for a bright and satisfying way to liven up a party or enjoy a quiet evening to yourself.

What You’ll Need

  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 6 oz pour over coffee
  • 2 oz Irish whiskey (about one shot)
  • Whipped cream to serve

What to Do

In the bottom of an Irish coffee glass or mug (we like using clear glasses) add your sugar and whiskey. Make yourself a pour over and add it to the glass, stirring the sugar and whiskey into the coffee. Top with a dollop of whipped cream and serve. If you’re making Irish coffees for a crowd and don’t have the time to prepare a dozen pour overs, using a drip-brew machine will work just fine.

Coffee Old Fashioned

We love Old Fashioned cocktails. A 200+ year old recipe, it’s a classic cocktail that’s simple, stated, and consistent. We’ve taken the goodness of the original recipe and made it even better by adding coffee.

What You’ll Need

  • 4 oz cold brew coffee
  • 1 oz whiskey or bourbon
  • A dash of bitters
  • 1 tsp sugar, or a small pour of simple syrup
  • Lemon peel to serve

What to Do

Add your coffee, whiskey, bitters, and sugar in a shaker, then add ice and stir until sugar is dissolved. Strain into a heavy-bottomed Old Fashioned glass with ice. Twist lemon peel into your drink and use as a garnish for extra pizzazz.

Café Maria Theresia

One of our favorite fancy coffee mixed drinks, the Café Maria Theresia is an Italian specialty that’s rich, fruity, and easier to prepare than you might expect.

What You’ll Need

  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 oz orange liqueur
  • 8 oz coffee (we like brewed or pour over)
  • Whipped cream
  • Orange zest, to serve

What to Do

In a clear glass mug, dissolve sugar into orange liqueur. Stir in coffee and top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of orange zest. To enjoy a Café Maria Theresia iced, simply use cold brew or iced coffee and add coffee ice cubes to your glass after you dissolve the sugar into the orange liqueur and before the coffee. Enjoy!
